Bob Gatto - Goalie Coach

About me

Goalie Coach

Bob Gatto is a USA Hockey Level 3 Coach specializing in goaltending. With nearly 8 years of coaching experience, Bob started his coaching career in 2008 as an assistant goalie instructor for the Geneva Cyclones and took over the program in 2012. In 2014, he was named head goalie instructor for Waubonsie Valley High School and still maintains this role. In 2015, he was named head goalie instructor for Team Illinois at the Squirt Major and Peewee Minor levels. He joined the Chicago Bruins and Addison Grizzlies coaching team in 2015 to provide the most comprehensive goalie instruction to their clubs.

Prior to his coaching career, Bob played Tier 2 hockey in Chicago and was an all-star goalie for Driscoll Catholic High School. Following Driscoll, Bob served as a Corporal in the U.S Marines.

Bob considers himself a student of the goalie position and is constantly learning and applying new techniques with his goaltenders. He has had the opportunity to work with some of the top goaltenders from US, Europe and Canada, and learn from, Jim Bedard, Goaltending Coach of the Detroit Redwings, Hannu Nyquist, Goaltending Coach for the Finnish National Team, Thomas Magnusson, Goaltending Director of the Swedish National Program, Fred Brathwaite of Hockey Canada, and Mike Valley of the Dallas Stars. Bob is looking forward to the opportunity to bring their techniques along with his own to the Grizzlie and Bruin’s goalies.
