About The CBML

The Chicago Bruins Mite League (CBML) is an in-house league for 3-8 year olds or those just learning to play hockey. This program follows the ADM and cross-ice format for games that are coach refereed. The prerequisite for the CBML is the successful completion of a Pre-Hockey program or the approval of the 8U Director. Players are evaluated prior to entering the program.

CBML Detail

CBML players will play “in-house”, as well as play against other clubs as available. While playing “in-house” games, players will be part of the Major or Minor division as described below. Minor level players will play all games in a cross-ice format. Major level players will play weekly in-house games in a full-ice “controlled game” situation and a cross-ice format.

There are two age/skill divisions within the CBML:

Major – Generally 7 & 8 year olds and more advanced younger players. Teams of approximately 11 players (10 skaters and a goalie)

Minor – Generally 5 and 6 year olds and beginner players. Teams of approximately 7 players (one skater will rotate weekly as the goalie).

All – Weekly power skate & skills session.
All – Weekly team practice utilizing ADM principles.
Majors – Weekly 3on3 “controlled” full-ice games and cross ice games.
Minors – Weekly cross-ice game format.
Power skate times are typically Fridays at 4:30 p.m.
Skills/Practice times are typically Saturdays at 8:00 a.m.
Games are typically Sundays at 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m.
Learn To Skate – For those players who have not met the prerequisites, Addison Ice Arena offers a learn to skate program for those children who want to learn the basics of skating.
